Xmas Grinch shirt

Bah Humbug!

One of my favorite christmas movies is "How the Grinch stole christmas". You may have seen the Grinch quilt I've made and this is my this year's favorite christmas dress. A selfmade Grinch-shirt.
I used this template to convert for the use with my silhouette.
Then I cutted out the different color sections and ironed them onto a very grinchy-green shirt I found on amazon

In addition I wore these pants from Primark for the last few days. (Very comfy!)
Hope y'all have a fantastic new years eve and we'll see us next year.

Heidesandcake

Hi Folks,

there are still a few days until christmas... So I'd like to share my favorite christmas cake with you. The cake is called "Heidesandkuchen". I couldn't find a translation but I think that doesn't bother anyway.
Sorry, the cake doesn't become as beautiful as the pictures you are always see at the internet but it tastes nevertheless yummy - This is real life!
Maybe you can bake it the whole year but I like it most around Christmas, because I think with the filling it's christmassy .

Here's the receipe if you like to bake it yourself:

Ingredients
250 g butter
250 g plum jam
2 tbs rolled oats
1 ts grated lemon zest
250 g flour
50 g cornstarch
3 ts baking powder
1/2 ts cinnamon (optional)
150 g sugar
1 pak vanilla sugar
1 pinch salt
4 eggs
Cake icing

Instructions
Tanning the butter and set aside until cool and creamy.
Mix Jam, oatmeal and lemon zest and set aside.

Create a sponge from all the other ingredients. Stir in the cooled butter.

Divide dough into 3 parts. Fill alternating with the jam mixture into the form.

Bake at 160°C for 50-60 minutes. Let sit for 10 minutes then overthrow the cake.

When the cake has cooled, cover the cake with the glaze.

Hazelnut-spicy Christmas cookie-creme

Hi Y'all!

Li
ke last year I gave a little present to my colleagues. It's not especially for St. Nicolas or Christmas. I would like to say, it's for christmas season.

I made hazelnut-spicy Christmas cookie-creme. I used the receipe: Homemade Nutella-Spekulatius-Creme from "Zuckersüßes von Tina und Lina". In addition I gave a funny walking santa and and a little bit of choclate.
All was wrapped in a brown paper bag. Decorated with bakers twine and little bit of greenery.
It's absolutly the time for a sweet tooth and not for diet.

Have a tasty time

Christmas Cloth

Hi Folks,

last week I showed you my illuminated christmas decoration but there is even more I did for a cozy christmas season. You may remember my cuddly Grinch quilt and like in Fall I made 3 pillowcases.
The 1st is from IKEA and has gotten a little design with the help of my Silhouette and heat-on foil.
The 2nd one was really nice as it goes. But I missed a little spot of green in there. So I cut a stencil and dabbed on the words with green fabric paint from VBS Studio Tex.
And for the 3rd I bought a absolutly adorable fabric to sew my own pillowcase.
From the leftover I sewed this table topper
Also I had an antique damask bed linen that I dyed from white to green. (Bad blogger missed to have a before-photo - shame on you!) I used Simplicol Textil Echtfarbe from Brauns Heitmann.
but in the end everything fits together very well.
Hope you've a beautiful christmas season.

Note: I didn't get any money for this article. All statements and opinions are my own.

Baby Dragon

Hi Y'all!

I found this pattern over at Ravelry a while back and I wanted to crochet this little dragon, for a long time. Now I reached my goal, so I can show you the latest of my creations.

I'm totally in love with this little one. I'm thinking to try it another time with thicker wool, so that he will become bigger and a little more cuddly for small hands.

Till next time!

Deck the halls

Happy 1st Advent,

because last year we had this ornate Advent box, this year I wanted to keep it simple. So I only put 4 candles and some decorative ornaments, I had on hand, on a silver plate.
As well we have these christmas ornaments in a hurricane glass.
At the kitchen we have this cute little arrangement that I made last year.
Even our private dragon is in christmas mood. He put on his Santa hat and is guarding our front door.
By the way, did I mention that last week this ol' blog turned 2? Can you imagine? I've never expected that I would have as much fun as I have with this blog, after 2 years. Although there are more and more blogs about crafting I will go on with it and hope you'll enjoy.

How the Grinch stole Christmas Quilt

Hi Y'all

because I'm a bit under quilting fever since I have made the Minnie quilt and the Superhero quilt for my niece and my nephew. This time  I planned a quilt for my own use. I wanted to make a jelly roll quilt for a while and that was the chance. It was not that easy as I imagined but in the end I had a "How the Grinch stole christmas" quilt that.I.love!

I wish you a warm and cozy christmas season and hope to see you soon.

Santas little helper!

Hi everybody!

This year we skipped Halloween because we weren't at home to welcome all the little creepy figures.

So next is the holly jolly christmas stuff. Last year I've made this cute little elf on the shelf to have some fun at christmas season.

This year I've met this busy little guy. He's one of Santas hard working helpers. I think he's checking Santas list, twice.
I worked hard to be on the "Nice" side. Please keep fingers crossed for me.

On which side will he find you?

Doctor Who - Don't blink!

Hi Y'all!

As you may know (or not) I'm a fan of the BBC Series Doctor Who. Special characters are the Weeping Angels
(They're a race of predatory creatures. They are as old (or almost as old) as the universe. However, no one knows where they come from. They turn into stone when they are viewed. In this form, they usually hold their hands up to their face to avoid that they see each other and they must remain in the locked form forever. From this attitude they get their name Weeping Angels. When no one is looking the angels move very quickly. They use this capability for stalking and also to attack and kill unwary prey.)
For those of you who want to know more about the weeping angels, can read about them here and here.

Thank you for stoppin by and don't blink!!

Little Mermaid

Hi there,

hope you're all well. Today I want to show you another custom order. One of my dearest colleagues asked for crocheting a mermaid for her "little" daughter who was turning 30.

Here's my version of a little mermaid. It's made without a pattern but I think it turned out great.
When I went on searching the internet for a free pattern, all I found was this nice pic which I was inspired by.
Source: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/my-little-crochet-doll---mermaid
As you can see, the birthday girl liked her present very well.
See ya soon

Dumbo

Hi Folks,

today I want to show you another plush toy I made as a present for the birthday of the lovely wife of a colleague. Like always, when I was asked to create something nice as a special present I searched the internet and finally was inspired by this pattern over at Ravelry.

This my version of little Dumbo.
Note: I didn't use the pattern on Ravelry. I made my own.

It turned out really cute. Hope she'll like it like I do.

Peek-a-boo autumn leaf jar candle

Hello there,

"Bunt sind schon die Wälder, gelb die Stoppelfelder, und der Herbst beginnt. Rote Blätter fallen, graue Nebel wallen, kühler weht der Wind!" [German folk song]

This means all the forrests are colored now. The days are getting shorter and the nights colder. The time to stay cozy, starts. I like to light some candles in the evening. Maybe with some " autumn " smell?!? Some time ago I saw very nice autumn-themed-candles in jars over at Pinterest and I thought to myself that they, slightly modified, were perfect and easy to make.

So I took 4 baby food jars that I had in stock,
cut out some autumn leafs from self-adhesive vinyl with my silhouette and glued them onto the jars. (Please make sure that the jars are free from dust and grease.) Then I painted the whole jars with crafters paint and allowed them to dry for about 2-3 hours. After making sure the paint is all dry I removed the silhouette leaf. Then I filled a bit of color matching legumes and a tealight into the jar.

Here's my version of the jar-candles.
It looks that nice with the different colors shining through the stained jars.

In the backround you'll maybe peek some buddies like Turkey, Scarecrow and Sam Hain from last year.

Stay cozy 'til next time

Baby snake hat

Hi Folks,

a few weeks ago a colleague asked me about a newborn hat for snake owners who had recently become parents of a little girl. My colleague wanted to have a funny present so he asked if I could attach a snake on top of this hat. Because I liked the idea, I did not hesitate and went to work.

I worked without a pattern and this is what I came up with.
The surprise was awesome.

Superhero quilt

Hi Y'all!

A few weeks ago I told you about the Minnie-Quilt I made as a present for my little niece. Of course I can not only make a quilt for my niece, but also must make one for my nephew/godson. And so did I. Here's my absolutely marvelous superhero quilt.
I was a bit afraid if both wouldn't like their blankets, but the opposite occurred. They both liked them and wanted to take them to bed at night. Yeah, great success!!

Hope to see you soon

Fall's in the air

Happy Fall y'all!

October is just around the corner and so it's time to start decorating for fall like every year.

This year I sewed a few pillowcases from very old linen bed cloth (I think they belonged to my great-grand mother) I had in stock, and put on some autumn ornaments I created with my silhouette.
and like last year there's an ol' washtube with pumpkins at the frontdoor.
'til next time
