Oops we did it again - Floor renewal at the entry hall

Hi Everybody!

Yes, we did it again! We changed the floor in our Entry Hall.

You may say: Why do you change the floors, when you have such a nice parquet? Long story told short: As you may know, we have a half-timbered house and there were cracks all over the floors. And THIS wasn't nice. After we changed the kitchen floor a few weeks ago, we decided to change the floor at the Entry Hall too.

Because Mr. Heart was on vacation the past week, he took the part of the removal of the parquet.

As you can see, he had hard-working helpers. ;-)

When I came home it looked like this. Ready to install the new floor.

I must confess: The new floor isn't that new. We had it from our former home. When we left the flat, our landlord told us, to remove it. Because it was totally ok, we kept it for a further use and now the time has come. Here's how it looks now.

Thank you for stopping by. Hope to see you soon.

Mosaic Table

Hi Y'all!

Here's a project I started last year in fall but then I had no fun to finish it in winter. But now the time is right. The weather is much more sunny and so the result is required.

I have been given this cable drum, like the one below, and thought about what I could do with it. As I lay on my sun lounger at a beautiful day, I needed something to set down my drink, and tada, the idea was born. The drum has exactly the right height and a hole in the middle to stand up the umbrella.

So I smashed some colorful tiles and glued them on the table as a mosaic. When the glue had dried, I installed a plastic edge, which I have found in the basement.

Then I filled the grouts. Because they shouldn't be so boring, I have mixed a bit blue color into the tile grout. Finally, I have sealed up the entire table top with boat varnish.

As a finish I have painted  the lower plate also in blue and the foot of the table in turquoise. Originally I had planed also to provide the lower plate with a mosaic, but I decided against it.

I'm really happy with my decision and I hope I'll have a time, every now and then, to use my new table.

Thanks for hopping into my little world

A little bit of Easter

Because Easter is not so far I have decorated a little bit. Here you can see what I did. This is in the Entry Hall.

You bet, this decoration looks like this, exactly as long as it took to take the picture.
Because the cats love it their way. Ok! At least I tried it.

This one is out of reach from the cats. So hopefully it will live longer. It hangs in the living room. I had only the ladder. I painted it in a warm brown and taped the items on.

And of course an Easterbush:

In fairness, I must confess that I have not embroidered these eggs by myself. They were made by my cousin a few years ago and I still like them.

Thanks for stopping by! I’d love for you to join my blog and follow along. Options are in the right side bar.

Not only the kitchen floor renewal

Hi Y'all!

I'm back with the result of this weeks work:

Whahoo a new kitchen floor! A few days ago I showed you my nightly sight of this week, you may remember.

And this was the view on Friday evening. (The cats were not happy with it, and me too.)

And tadaaa on saturday evening we had this view:

This was only the last step at the kitchen renewal. Unfortunately I have no picture only from the floor before but when we first went into this room, it looks like this (like a time travel back to the '70s):

But after a little time, playing with adhensive foil for the cabinet fronts and granite tiles for the countertop (we did it last year before I decided to start blogging), a few new furniture and at last the new floor, it looks like this:

I'm really happy with the new, old kitchen.

Thanks for stopping by.

Easy makeover Flowerpots and a sneak peak

Hi y'all! I hope you're all fine.

Today I've got a small project, to show you, which you can do in an evening.

I had these flowerpots and I wanted to decorate them the easy way.

So I covered the one pot with tape in stripes and the other with pre-printed and cut out stars. The gaps I colored with metallic paint. After a short period of drying I pulled off the tape and the stars and I had these.

And here is the sneak peak I promised. The whole project will shown in a few days (if I could still move my arms):

'Til next time
