Flying Geese Quilt

Hello!

Back in March I bought these colourful fabrics with the plan to sew a Flying Geese-Quilt.

But it stuck because of other projects like the raised bed, Pua, the Niffler and others. Now I finally found the time to start.

First I sew these colour/white mixed quaters

After that I arranged the quaters to get a rainbow effect

The back of the quilt is again a duvet cover from Ikea. I mostly find there duvet covers, that matches the color and the pattern of my quilts, very well. And they're made from pure cotton.

The pattern was created with the free software of Pattern Jam.

Because the software is limited with 16 rows and columns, I split the pattern in 4 parts and put them togehter while sewing.

Kitty helped a lot and was really exhausted after that 😉

Historic ball gown

Hi!

A few weeks ago I've got a cry for help from my dear neighbour Britta from Britta.tanzt.Balett.
She had a big big problem. She was invited for a historical dance in Berlin and her seamstress had let her with a half-finished dress. So she asked if I could help to rescue the dress and her dance-invitation. I told her that I'm not a professional seamstress but I'd like to do my very best. So we went to work.

Because the dress was too tight for the frost skirt, the seamstress had unpicked the dress on the back and had not yet found a solution for that the frost skirt to be visible. Fortunately, Britta had already bought a veilto hide the frost skirt. But it was way too long for dancing. So we had to cut it.

Next step was to look the dress more pompous. Therefore we gathered up one of the three layers of tulle. After that we fixed a few cute little black roses all over the skirt. And ta-da we're finished, I thought...

Two days later Britta told me that it is indispensable to have ruffles at the neckline of the dress. OK. Back to work we went. First try was a little unconventional. I've had an old lace curtain that I found on a flea market. From that we removed the edging and spray painted it black.

 Not only the lace was black. Our hands were black too.

And additionally we've failed. While washing the border by hand, unfortunately a lot of the color dissolved.

So the next day we invaded a fabrics store to find some nice lace we could use for our purposes. In fact, we found the right one and here's Britta, happy, in her finished dress at the ball.

Eire Quilt

Hi there,

a good friend of mine was at Ireland at the beginning of July. To make him a surprise for his birthday and a nice memory of this vacation, I decided to make him a personalized quilt.

I bought different fabrics in irish national colors.

The back of the quilt is again Dvala from Ikea. This time I bought 2 different colours and 2 different types. One Duvet Cover in black and one fitted sheets in green.

.

The pattern was created with the free software of Pattern Jam.

Last I let some nice pictures of his vacation print on fabric to sew them on top of the quilt.

So I think this will make a nice, comfy, usable and washable present AND a memory of a wonderful vacation.

Halloween Quilt

Happy Fall Y'all!

Finally autumn has arrived. So I thought it's time to do a quilt again. And because October is Halloween-Season at all, what could be better than a halloween quilt?

I bought these nice fabrics over at Dawanda* 

The back is a cotton duvet cover, I bought at IKEA*.

I designed the pattern with the super easy to use, free software from Pattern Jam.*

The result is a cozy Halloween quilt.

BTW: Did you mentioned the 2 little pumpkins at the bottom of the halloween quilt? These were 2 of this year's harvest.

One million unfinished projects

Hi there,

do you missed me? Here I am again.

Since we've been back from my cousins wedding, it feels like we have 1 million unfinished projects. So I think this will be a post about our unfinished works.

While I'm crocheting many more dragons, I wanted to do something else in between, for not going mad. So I hope to show you another quilt, soon.

Next thing is that Hubby and I digged a hole into our green last weekend.

We hope that it will be a fire pit next weekend. I will tell you the whole story in one of my next posts, when the soreness has subsided.

Another construction site is our entrance. There were still a few open points on our to-do-list:

• find and install new coat hooks
• find/make new wall arts
• find a new mailboxslit
• install a lot of trimming

So you can imagine that there will never be boredom at our home.

Cat padding

Hi y'all,

exciting things happend at "Home is in the Heart" last week. We got new windows all over the house. Because of the fact the the house was build in 1900, it's always an adventure to make changes. You'll never know what you're expecting.
But everything went great and the windows were replaced within 3 days. Because we had no desire to do this task ourselves, we had an appointment with a carpenter.

Because of the new windows I've decided it's time to change the cat's padding at the windows sill. I bought some nice fleece blankets and bit of batting and sewed these cushions quick and easy. I've adjusted them the size of the window sill.

They're nice and soft and washable because of the one or two cat hair that will stick on. Next week I'll show you my lastest amigurumi.

                    

Red Rooster - Mellow Yello Quilt

Hi Folks,

I'm back again. As I told you wanted to show my new quilt. I'm really in love with it. It's cozy but light.

I bought these nice matching fat quaters from Patchwork-NMKB* over at Dawanda* and combined them with plain white cotton I had in stock.

The back is a simple cotton duvet cover, I bought at bonprix*.

I designed the pattern with the super easy to use, free software from Pattern Jam.*

The result is an absoultly awesome summer quilt.

Jeans cat bed

Hi Folks,

like I told you last week, I was sewing for the kittens. Now that I'm done, I would like to show you what I've done.

Cats love to lie on our laps. So I have sewed the legs and waist of some old jeans, filled them up with fiber fill and folded them like sitting cross legged.

I was inspired by this pin over at pinterest 

The cat beds are tested and approved by my own kittens.

They can be purchased at 2nd Summerparty of Hand und Pfote Lohfelden e.V. Hope they will be well liked.

Jeans Pinwheel Quilt

Hi Y'all,

sorry for being late this week but my computer did not work properly so it was not possible to set this article online. Now I've solved the problem and here we are. 

This is my last sewing project. It's a pin wheel quilt made from old jeans and various cotton fabrics I had on stock. If you take a closer look you can spy some fabrics from the Minnie quilt I made last summer. The borders and back are made from an ikea duvet cover.

Because the days are still very unstable and partially quite cold, I'm happy to have this soft and comfy quilt. BTW: The kittens like the quilt too.

So, please stay warm and comfy too until we meet next time.

                       

Singer 401

Oh happy day!

A few days ago I talked to a very nice friend of mine and she asked if I'm interested in an old sewing machine. Of course I said yes, I do! And now, look at this beauty! 

It's exactly the same machine I've learned to sew. It came built-in in this cabinet

and lots and lots of paraphernalia. 

I think I've to read the instructions to learn what I can do with all these things.

Let's have a closer look at the instructions. There are some handwritten notes.

OMG! This baby is from 1963(!!!) and was over 1.000 German Marks. This means about 500 Euro. In 1963 this was a a small fortune. And for me, it was for free. Lucky me!

Due to the small space in my recently completed crafts room we decided to built it out of the cabinet and find another solution. So dear hubby worked hard to lower it into my crafting table. But in the end he won the battle. And I'm sooo happy. I am excited about what I'm going to sew with this machine.

                     

Christmas Cloth

Hi Folks,

last week I showed you my illuminated christmas decoration but there is even more I did for a cozy christmas season. You may remember my cuddly Grinch quilt and like in Fall I made 3 pillowcases. 

The 1st is from IKEA and has gotten a little design with the help of my Silhouette and heat-on foil. 

The 2nd one was really nice as it goes. But I missed a little spot of green in there. So I cut a stencil and dabbed on the words with green fabric paint from VBS Studio Tex.

And for the 3rd I bought a absolutly adorable fabric to sew my own pillowcase. 

From the leftover I sewed this table topper

Also I had an antique damask bed linen that I dyed from white to green. (Bad blogger missed to have a before-photo - shame on you!) I used Simplicol Textil Echtfarbe from Brauns Heitmann. 

but in the end everything fits together very well.

How the Grinch stole Christmas Quilt

Hi Y'all

because I'm a bit under quilting fever since I have made the Minnie quilt and the Superhero quilt for my niece and my nephew. This time  I planned a quilt for my own use. I wanted to make a jelly roll quilt for a while and that was the chance. It was not that easy as I imagined but in the end I had a "How the Grinch stole christmas" quilt that.I.love!

Superhero quilt

Hi Y'all!

A few weeks ago I told you about the Minnie-Quilt I made as a present for my little niece. Of course I can not only make a quilt for my niece, but also must make one for my nephew/godson. And so did I. Here's my absolutely marvelous superhero quilt.

I was a bit afraid if both wouldn't like their blankets, but the opposite occurred. They both liked them and wanted to take them to bed at night. Yeah, great success!!
