A little bit of green

Hi Y'all,

here's my little contribution for St. Patricks day decoration

The Luck of the Irish sign was one of the first creations I made with my Silhouette back in 2015. The little Puppet was made the same year. I call these oldies but goldies.

This year I have 2 easy peasy new decoration items:

1.  A green candle in an with gold ornamental gravel filled glas bowl.
   
   
   
   
   
2. An irish blessing I found over at pinterest. I printed it out and put it in a golden frame I had on hand.

Flames of Valentine

Hi Y'all!

Sorry for letting you without a life sign the last 2 weeks but I wasn't able to do anything. I had a massive virus infection and felt sick like never before. So today I have only a little but nevertheless cute project. If everybody in blogland is sharing their Valentines decor. How could I miss this season?

So I picked up 2 little jars, putted on a few hearts that I cutted with my silhouette. After this I colored the glasses with spray paint in pink color shades. When they were dry I pulled off the hearts and attached some nice ribbons.

For the darker jar I cutted some extra hearts from double-sided adhesive and sprinkled on some gold glitter.

Halloween 2016

Happy Halloween!

This year's halloween is inspired by Pinterest. Am I addicted? Yes! So let's see what I found.

• Illuminated Jars 
  I got the idea, as often, while searching trough Pinterest when I saw this and that.

   

• Halloween Birthday cake
  (For my little niece, - she turned 4 on Friday - because my mum told me that I had to bring a cake especially for the kids. OK, nothing easier than that!) I was inspired by this cake

• Halloween Cookies
  I found these and these cookies that I wanted to try. But to be honest, they were a total fail so I haven't got photos from this desaster.

• Halloween wreath
  This one it totally inspired by myself (thrilling!) and a tip from hubby

Cat-TV

Welcome back!

Since we first bought our house 5 years ago we had an old TV as a"barn find". We often talked about what to do with it. We tried to find another good home for this buddy, but no one was interested in adopting this sweetie. So we decided that we will keep it and give it the chance for a totally other kind of life - as a cat tv.

This is what it looked like when we found it at the barn.

After hubby had removed all the electronic components I did a hard but successful job with sanding.

Then I painted everything new in dark brown and white.

Unfortunately we couldn't save the adjustment buttons. So we will have a look at the flea markets in the area, next time.

For the bottom I upholstered a chipboard with volume fleece and cord fabric.

To make it easier for the cats to adopt the new furniture, we laid in a blanket that has already been accepted by them.

Hope you all have an as compfy place as our cats to stay warm and cozy when autumn starts.

One million unfinished projects

Hi there,

do you missed me? Here I am again.

Since we've been back from my cousins wedding, it feels like we have 1 million unfinished projects. So I think this will be a post about our unfinished works.

While I'm crocheting many more dragons, I wanted to do something else in between, for not going mad. So I hope to show you another quilt, soon.

Next thing is that Hubby and I digged a hole into our green last weekend.

We hope that it will be a fire pit next weekend. I will tell you the whole story in one of my next posts, when the soreness has subsided.

Another construction site is our entrance. There were still a few open points on our to-do-list:

• find and install new coat hooks
• find/make new wall arts
• find a new mailboxslit
• install a lot of trimming

So you can imagine that there will never be boredom at our home.

Coat hook - make over

Hi Folks!

Since my last post I'm working on a few more dragons. And because I can't always just crochet, it was time for a quick and easy make-over.

I bought this coat hook the other day for no special reason.

Now I decided that it could hold our dishcloth that lived at the oven handle and that was not ideal.

So I separated the knobs and the stars and masked 2 stars with masking tape. Then I went outside to spray paint the stars and 2 of the knobs with spray paint I had from earlier projects (knife block refashion, bread bin refashion).

When I assembled the coat hook again it totally fits our kitchen.

Bedside lamp make over

Hello there,

today I have a new make over for you. Wanna know the story of this pretty little lamp?

I had this lamp for years and with time it really got ugly. I thought about to give it a make over for a while.

So, I gave it a try. I covered the shade with some fabric scraps left over, from former projects. 

I painted the bottom of the lamp with mirror paint I bought a while ago. 

I think the result is quite presentable. It looks much nicer now. What was your last make over? I would like to hear more about it.

Jeans cat bed

Hi Folks,

like I told you last week, I was sewing for the kittens. Now that I'm done, I would like to show you what I've done.

Cats love to lie on our laps. So I have sewed the legs and waist of some old jeans, filled them up with fiber fill and folded them like sitting cross legged.

I was inspired by this pin over at pinterest 

The cat beds are tested and approved by my own kittens.

They can be purchased at 2nd Summerparty of Hand und Pfote Lohfelden e.V. Hope they will be well liked.

Kittens room upgrade - Part 2

Hello,

last week I told you about crafting for charity and that I'm doing sewing things for the kittens. Because I'm not done with it, I'll show you instead some other things we have done at the kittens room.

A few weeks ago we bought a very nice scratching post. It was only 48 €, so I couldn't resist.

The other thing is that we created a catwalk. We bought simple bed enclosure and installed them  below the ceiling.

In the end we mount a rope light that we had left over, so we have a light at night.

Kittens room upgrade - Part 1

Hi Folks,

the last weekends we were busy to upgrade the kittens fresh air room we built last year. 

I asked Hubby to install 2 old tires onto the sill, so I can put bowls with cat fitting greenery into them.

The first try was very nice, but I think the cats liked it another way.  ;-)

I asked a friend who is a gardener what I can do to discourage the cats from digging. He told me I should try gravel. So I gave it another try and it works.

Another thing we built was a nestswing. Hubby brought an old bicycle rim to me.

I filled the indent with cotton and wrapped all with bandage to upholster. 

Then I cut 2 layers of fleece blanket into circles and cut them at the sides. I knotted the blankets onto the rim. At last Hubby and I attached 2 long ropes to hung up the swing.

I hope the cats will love the swing because no one told me that knotting a fleece blanket is that painful.

This was the first part of the kittens room upgrade. Hope to see ya next week again.

                   

Crafts room art

Hi Y'all,

as I told you a few weeks ago, Hubby and I built a crafts room. Until now the walls were very white and dreary. This had to be changed. So I went to work. I had 2 blank canvas 30 x 30 in stock, I wanted to use.

I searched the web for some inspiration. As often I found it over at Pinterest. 

First I painted one of the canvas in rainbow colors. Then, like I did earlier, I cut out the motif from vinyl adhensive foil with my silhouette and applied it to the canvas. After this I painted black all over. When all was dry, I peeled away the adhesive foil. This is what came out.

The 2nd canvas was painted in gold. Next was cutting and applying the motif like above. But this canvas was painted in black with a few shadows of gold. When I peeled of the foil, after drying, it looked like this.

Both quotes matches me perfectly, sometimes.

This is the first part of bringing a bit of colors to my little world ;-)

           

Singer 401

Oh happy day!

A few days ago I talked to a very nice friend of mine and she asked if I'm interested in an old sewing machine. Of course I said yes, I do! And now, look at this beauty! 

It's exactly the same machine I've learned to sew. It came built-in in this cabinet

and lots and lots of paraphernalia. 

I think I've to read the instructions to learn what I can do with all these things.

Let's have a closer look at the instructions. There are some handwritten notes.

OMG! This baby is from 1963(!!!) and was over 1.000 German Marks. This means about 500 Euro. In 1963 this was a a small fortune. And for me, it was for free. Lucky me!

Due to the small space in my recently completed crafts room we decided to built it out of the cabinet and find another solution. So dear hubby worked hard to lower it into my crafting table. But in the end he won the battle. And I'm sooo happy. I am excited about what I'm going to sew with this machine.

                     

Crafts room

Hi Y'all,

today's the day to show you the big project I was working on. It's my crafts room! There was one room, which we had not renovated yet. I started the renovation back in June, whenever I had a little time. So it took quite a while, but now I'm finished and I'm really happy with the result. But see yourself.

Even if there is so much space to store all my craft supplies, I took the chance to declutter my stock.
I took over a few items I made before. Maybe you've spied the Pin board I've made last year. YES! Now I've got a big blackboard of my own, to plan and scetch my ideas. Or just for doodling.

The tin cans I've made to store all my pens, brushes and other little things who were needed so much for crafting, moved to the crafts room, too.

Even a few of my crocheted pieces found their way on the shelves. Like the Weeping Angels and Kurt the armadillo.

You may be curious what things will arise in this room from now on.
